Goa: A Haven of Beauty & Merrymaking

GOA … the word in itself is symbolic of its beautiful and serene beaches, famous churches and an its promise of an enjoyable life full of celebration. Nature has been impartial to goa and has endowed it a landscape that one can die for. Its rich history has led to remarkable spots which give it an ethnic touch. Its night life and cruises are famous world over. No more reasons are needed for visiting this place.

Being a coastal state, Goa has a maritime climate with moderate temperatures throughout the year. In fact, there is very little variation in temperatures during different seasons. The only months which should be avoided are April and May, due to the scorching heat of sun making people prone to sun stroke. Pleasant climate welcomes you the rest of the year. The Goan culture is a rich blend of Eastern and Western traditions which can be seen in its cuisine to its various art forms. Having been a Portugal colony for around 500 years, the influence of Portuguese cannot be undermined.

The beaches of goa can be divided in two categories, which are in north Goa and south Goa. The famous beaches of north Goa are Betim, Reis Magos, Sinquerim, Candolim, Calangute etc. The beaches in south Goa are relatively isolated and are free of noise and pollution. Famous ones include Miramar, Dona Paula, Vainguinim, Bambolim, Vasco da Gama etc. Churches in Goa revel in expertise of their artisans. They are known for the beautiful work in them. Though there are many churches, the most famous of them is Church of St. Francis. Others include St. Monica, Church of St.Alex and Church of our Lady of the Rosary.

The credit for the remarkable nightlife of goa goes to the hippies who were responsible for initiating it. Goa has got a vibrant night life and is a state which believes in celebrating every day. There is also a palette of cruises to choose from. The experience is surely going to be a magical one. The other thing that is characteristic of goa is its seafood. If you are a non-vegetarian who loves sea food, Goa is your haven. Dishes made from fish, pork, prawns, beef etc are some of the best.

People can surely head to Goa, in case they are looking forward to a place where they can rediscover themselves in this busy life, amidst beautiful landscapes and an exuberant culture. Definitely a place worth visiting, at least once in a lifetime!
