If you are the one who is in the imperative need to go away from this contemporary nerve-racking regime, which is inflicted upon everyone, and renounce this schedule in a serene and undisturbed place, Kerala is the safest bet. With its majestic landscapes and magnificent locations where you will end up wishing that you could live on till eternity, this place is the perfect location for you to abdicate your anxieties and surrender yourself to Mother Nature.

Kerala is famed for its tranquil backwaters, profound beaches and almost magical ayurveda treatments. No wonder, this place has been selected as one of the worlds 50 places in a lifetime by national geographical traveller magazine. The coastal regions of Kerala have a network of waterways, inlets of sea and estuaries from around 40 rivers, lakes and canals. This interlinked body of waterways is called as backwaters. Many unique species of areals like turtles, crabs and mudskippers along with water birds such as kingfisher are found in the backwaters. Palm and other different leafy trees paint the landscape a lush green. The cruise is an unforgettable experience! Kerala offers some of the finest beaches. The 900 km coastline is laced with sandy beaches, which when coupled with delicious seafood makes your day perfect.

Not only beaches and backwaters, Kerala also enjoys a great topography and therefore, pampers you with some very good hill stations. If you get enthralled with the dance forms, then you are going to have an unbelievable time since Kerala serves as a home to many dance forms including the much famous Kathakali and Mohiniyattom. Ayurvedic treatments using herbs of medicinal value are acknowledged wide and far.

You even have some excellent options when it comes for accommodation. There is a plethora of options ranging from houseboats 🙂 to hotels to resorts. The fares are also reasonably priced in almost all the areas, and one can get a room easily for around Rs. 3000 a day. As far as local transport is concerned, taxi fares are moderate at almost Rs.1500 per day for 150 kms. If you want to bring along a piece of Kerala back with you, go shopping for Groovy Threads, Chinese Ceramics and Antiques, Pattu Pai, Brass Inlay Caskets, Urulis and Tin Candle stands etc. at local markets. Some of the popular places include Kochi’s New Street, Shoppers at Jew Street and Government Handicraft Emporia.

In such a backdrop with so much serenity and tranquility, Kerala can mesmerize every creature living on this planet, and therefore rightly called God’s own country. WOW! 😀
