Don’t Worry, Be Happy

By Ankur Garg:

Well, I am not talking here about the song ‘Don’t worry, be happy’ by Bobby Mcferrin. I am talking about the pressure in our minds, the pressure of love, pressure of life and pressure of career. In the last few years, the amount of tension has increased quite a lot in this tiny human brain. From adults working in multinational companies to the children studying in school, everyone has his own share of tensions. The amount of work has increased exponentially over the last few years. The job is no longer 9 to 5 and even the school is no longer 8 to 2. The increasing number of contact hours has also increased the ‘worries’ among the people.

Though they say that there’s a ‘happiness gene’ in each of us and the length and type of that gene determines our joviality and ability to make others feel good, but that doesn’t mean that those who have better ‘happiness gene’ are more happy while those who don’t have it are always sad. As a matter of fact, they also say that a positive state of mind affects the overall health and longevity of life more as compared to obesity affecting longevity.

Quite sometime back I had read that the Japanese people are most tense people in the world. They are the ones who are most hard working in the entire world. Therefore, to relieve their tensions, some small tea houses are made where they are served tea with a soft music playing in the background and under the aroma of the tea, all their tensions and worries seem to get evaporated. I think we might also need some of these with the advent of MNC’s in our country.

Though the MNC’s offer huge amounts of salaries and packages, they make their employees work in equal measure. We should also consider that people are now glued to their laptops and other electronic gadgets even when they are not at work. Even for relaxation and rejuvenation, they prefer these gadgets further stressing their minds. As a result, there are more cases of hypertension, anxiety, aggression and other psychological disorders. The people nowadays are more addicted to drinking and smoking as they find it as the only solution to relieve their stress.

Even children are under constant pressure as soon as they get admitted to the school. As the competition has increased so much, with 98% marks easily coming in boards every year, it looks like sky is the limit. Also, not to forget the increasing cut-offs of admissions in the reputed college. My brother is just in the 8th standard and as soon as he reaches home, he has just one tension on how to start the work. His mind is always occupied with the worry of finishing his home-work. Even after completing the home-work, he just keeps recalling whether he has done his whole work or not, just thinks if he has not missed anything.

After reading this article, don’t stress out yourself. Enjoy life and enjoy your work. Don’t worry, be happy and just remember this beautiful quote, ‘never let life’s hardships disturb you, no one can avoid problems, not even saints or sages.’

But just to end it all, we would like you to drive inspiration from the song by Bobby Mcferrin 😀
