India is been eyed as the world’s future economic powerhouse, though this is far from becoming a reality in the near future. Even after 65 years of independence, the common man still finds it difficult to access the basic infrastructural necessities needed for living a better lifestyle.
People living in the NCR would surely vouch for it. For people living in Indirapuram (Ghaziabad), daily commuting to Delhi is no short of an adventure, as direct public transport is non-existing. These people are mostly office-goers, college students, school-going children etc.; the nearest bus terminal/stop connecting Indirapuram is almost 7 kms away, which is accessible only through autos or ‘tempos’. However there are no direct autos either that are willing to take you across the border without burning a hole in the common man’s pocket. One would have to take an auto till the state border and hail another one to travel there onwards.
The metro connectivity between Delhi and NCR is also limited. The metro connects only a few selected areas of the NCR with Delhi, leaving rest to fend for themselves. This then leaves people no alternative but to use the ‘shared auto’ or ‘tempo’ facility. These autos, though light on the pocket, are however, an uncomfortable experience. The auto that is meant for 4, i.e. including the driver, is cramped up with 8 people who have no choice but to go with it.
Therefore there is an immediate need for the state governments to look into this matter to provide their people with better infrastructural backup, in order to efficiently utilise their talents for paving way for a brighter future.
