Kick Start This Year With The ‘Fly Music Festival’

By Nidhi Sinha:

If you are a music maniac who is presently high-spirited because of the recent influx of some amazing music experiences in the country, well, here is another biggie for you. After pulling off with enormous success, a mega event like Sunburn which was the most happening musical festival in India, Percept Live is now all set to burn it to splinters with the announcement of the ‘Fly Music Festival’ scheduled for the 16th and 17th of February 2013 in Delhi-NCR.

The line-up for the concert covers a whole vista of musical groups that range from death metal to rap to bhangra. The big names in the list are English rock legends Deep Purple, rap-metal band Limp Bizkit, Ray Manzarek and Robby Krieger of The Doors and thrash metal act Anthrax.

Post festival, India can boast of having hosted the Big Four of Metal – Metallica, Megadeath, Anthrax and Slayer in the span of a year. To add to the cultural delight of the Indian audience, we have the Dhol Foundation from London which is sure to induce some serious dancing. Scottish singer-songwriter of “Black horse and the cherry tree” fame, KT Tunstall is in the league too. Ten Indian bands are also expected to perform, although their names have not been announced yet. Bob Marley’s original band, The Wailers, who were initially announced as part of the line-up have been taken off the official website as of now, much to the disappointment of fans.

An exquisite assortment of musical outfits, the bands are playing to the theme of flying, which is the underlying idea behind the festival according to Percept Live head Shailendra Singh. Activities like hot air balloons have also been included to suit the theme.

This venture sounds much more promising than the all buzz and no-show ‘Lost Music Festival’ which had a similar concept and was supposedly scheduled to take place in Pune. Most importantly, music lovers are in for a treat. Enthusiasts can await an experience of a lifetime- not only will they get to attend the live concert, but also get to live the whole musical journey leading up to the concerts, with features like “musical pit-stops” and band buses. So keep your eyes on the road and your hands upon the wheel!
