#TehelkaYKA DEBATE: “Can we reduce our dependence on chemical and energy intensive farming practices and still feed 7 billion people?”

Not only are we pushing the boundaries for agriculture, we are adopting a “faster, bigger, cheaper” approach to food production. Years of dependency on chemical fertilisers has trapped the farmers in a vicious cycle to sustain a decent yield, they must use more and more fertiliser every year. This raises a vital question: Is it sufficient to just produce more for the growing human population or is it also necessary that we do so with a modicum of ecological dignity? But what do you think?
