The monsoon is all over these days. Are you a also victim of rains like me, who is tired of the constant showers? Are they hindering your work and daily chores? Have you noticed how the dark and gray rainy day tends to make you gloomy whereas you find yourself cheerful, lively, and energized on a sunny day?

Rainy day blues and boredom are likely to cause irritability, crankiness, and depression. A study conducted by The American Psychological Association in 2008 talks about “The Effects of Weather on Daily Mood” and the study found that weather has a considerable effect on mood.

For instance, SAD aka Seasonal Affective Disorder is caused by winter type weather. If you reside in a rainy area or face constant rains, there are chances that you might be affected by this disorder without even knowing. If you’re suffering from SAD you may feel gloomier on the rainy days. There is even a scientific reason for this. It is proven that insufficient exposure to the sunlight may cause low levels of melatonin, serotonin, weight gain, and even sleep disturbance.

Let’s find out how you can beat incessant rains and rainy day blues.

Say no to leather and yes to cotton: Completely avoid anything “Leather”. Leather becomes too heavy when soaked in the rain, apart from that it’s depressingly hard to dry it up. Opt for comfy cotton clothes. You can choose from the variety of cotton clothes in the market that go with your style and create your own trend!

The Hooded Jacket: If you choose a designer jacket it may make you look slick and stylish. But no matter how stylish you look, your hair and head are still going to get wet if the jacket lacks a hood. The hooded jacket is an awesome way of beating the rains effortlessly and you don’t even have to go through the trouble of carrying an umbrella around, with you all day long.

Wet Weather Footwear: When choosing the ideal footwear for the rainy season you have to be pragmatic. Say a big no to leather soles, stilettos, because you’re likely to slip on wet surfaces, you might even step on a thick puddle. Worse — after your remove your leather shoes your feet will smell like a dead mouse. So stay away from the disaster and choose rubber soles or stick with the plastic one’s, gum boots and flip flops.

Dance to the Tunes: If you’re planning to stay indoors while the rain unceasingly pours outside, you can turn on your favourite songs and shake a leg. When you dance you release endorphins. It is an excellent form of exercise. The adrenaline and endorphins work together to create a dramatic ‘dancer’s high’.

Take A Nap: When it’s unceasingly raining outside it’s better to take a nap than curse the weather all day. Who doesn’t love to sleep under warm quilts, covers, and blankets like there’s no tomorrow? You will wake up positive, fresh and energized.

Explore Your Inner Hermit: Pursue your hobbies dancing, painting, drawing, reading, watch your favourite movie – whatever it may be. When you’re indoors in the rains it’s a great opportunity to get things done around the house. Whatever you decide to do, just don’t feel guilty about it.

Embrace The Rain: Sounds funny but it is the last resort. If you are unable to beat the gray and gloomy weather it is worthwhile to go out and embrace the rain. All you need to don is a waterproof hat, raincoat or a waterproof jacket, funky flip flops and you’re all set to beat the rainy day blues.

After all, you’re not going to let that constant shower and incessant drizzle to dampen your spirits, are you?
