With the flow of globalization, we often forget how our ancestors lived and how we miss out to experience the aesthetic moments. Most importantly, our culture and traditions makes us unique and gives us the feeling of belongingness. However, with the rush of performing our daily duties, we forget some essential integrals of our lives. Hence, to promote as well as to preserve the exceptional yet reviving culture and art forms, many non-profit organizations in India are pursuing to create awareness about the importance of distinctive culture and arts heritage. Below are five famous non-governmental organizations that are working to revitalize the civilization, ancestry and archaeological aspects of art forms in India.
National Center For Performing Arts (NCPA): It is one of the very famous non-profit organizations working in the field of promoting Indian art and culture. Their theater compiles the native traditions and rituals to unify the diverse cultures. Music, dance, acts and other performances capture works from many legends of India to international artistic figures. Situated in Mumbai, it is considered as the premier organization for which it was awarded the first “Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (SIRO)” in the field of music research.
Indian National Trust for Art and Cultural Heritage (INTACH): INTACH was established in 1984 and it continues till date. Its main aim is to promote and preserve the cultural heritage for younger generations in order to provide opportunities for the youth to grasp the beauty and dignity of Indian history. This autonomous organization takes care of monuments built across India. Other than preserving the historical monuments domestically, it also works internationally in Belgium, United Kingdom and United States.
Society For The Promotion of Indian Classical Music And Culture Amongst Youth (SPIC MACAY): This organization focuses on strengthening classical and philosophical art. Most importantly, SPIC MACAY emphasizes on de-culturization than denouncing any western influence. It not only works on promoting the classical artwork but also ties memorable myths with legendary works of the past. All of this work done by SPIC MACAY, is certainly helping present generations to realize the deep rooted values of tapestry, classical and philosophical art.
Indian Numismatic Historical and Cultural Research Foundation (INHCRF): Numismatic is the study of coins, and INHCRF is one of the most prominent organizations highlighting history through designs of coins. Coins from the ancient times reflect various historic events, their administrative technique and economic cycle. With the aim of exploring history of Indian revolutions, INHCRF also create awareness through workshops, exhibitions and presentations on promoting the fundamental value of numismatics and its importance in Indian culture and society.
Kalamandir: Another unique yet famous NGO, Kalamandir, works to attain “Social synergy and Human harmony” through the exchange of tribal arts, culture and music. Kalamandir was established in 1997 and now it operates in the provinces of Jharkhand. The main goal of this organization is to offer a platform for exchange of culture between different genealogical and linguistic societies. Exchange in culture revives folk and regional heritage and highlights the importance of folk and tribal art forms belonging to each traits. Also, through the distribution of books with different tribal and visual arts, this organization has been able to rejuvenate art forms in various tribal communities across India.
