A Shadow Of Things To Come: How Life Experiences Make Us Better Prepared For Life

By Mayank Jain:

Everything culminates into an experience. One that can be memorable and worth reminiscing forever or the other one which is forgettable but gave some important lessons that sit in our subconscious knowledge pool forever. However, we lay little or no emphasis on making our experience a shield for the future, a cloak for the botches of the past and a pedestal for today to stand upon. It is not a race to be the most experienced at the earliest but rather a marathon to collect the best of our journeys so far and turn it into something more productive than just a passing memory which makes you nostalgic on a lazy afternoon. Organization is the most potent weapon of the civilized and organized experiences when used effectively, can give one the leverage required to rise above the mediocre and perform at a level which was hitherto unimagined.

The reason behind emphasizing on experiences is not because they teach us but being in the moment and experiencing something first hand aligns you with the subject and you become the go to person to talk about the subject. The reason why survivor’s tales are more important to news channels and their audiences in the face of a disaster than meteorological department’s analysis speaks volumes about the same phenomenon.

Importance of experience can’t be overstated, at all. But this talk about experience and its importance is only fruitful if there is proper channelizing of the insights gathered from the experience and its experience in turn is also specifically, consciously allocated making sure nothing of importance is ever lost in this age of information overload. It is interesting to note how easily people older than us can tackle the problems of our lives which we think are peculiar to us but then realize that maybe there is a cheat sheet hidden somewhere for the grownups and they used to live their lives according to that. That’s experience for you. Knowing, believing and sharing are three virtues you gain as you go along your life taking in every breath of the air slowly and putting your mind to good use, tackling as well as recording the problems so you have a ready solution for them next time you encounter them.

Its the right time to learn things, do stuff and get experience. Victorious or losing, good or bad, or even worst. Everything is worth an experience.
