The Supreme Court of India recently criminalized gay sex, overruling the landmark verdict of the Delhi High Court which decriminalized Section 377. Section 377, a draconian law enacted in the year 1861 by Lord Macaulay criminalizes “unnatural sex”. In other words, it criminalizes gay sex between consenting adults, and also oral sex, anal sex etc. between straight people as well. Section 377 affects us all. A person’s sexuality is their identity – something that laws should not govern. These 10 photos depict the emotions that the Supreme Court judgement brought out.
