Although people talk about generation gap, but the aspirations and wants remain the same. Just change it to a color frame and it would seem like of 21st Century.
Proud to be a part of this country. Proud to have the traditions which are rooted in our individualism!

Excellent ! Amazing how people of that generation were frank ,simple, matter of factly… some of them bristling with sharp intelligence and hopefulness about future. eager to see how they are and where they are now… Its a great documentary.

I don’t understand why this documentary was after so many years. Awesome one, the younger generation was so frank and sincere

Born on an auspicious date back then meant that you were the talk of the town. You’d hear stories from your parents and grandparents about how the times were when you were born, and how lucky you are to be breathing an air of freedom. You would be fed and nurtured with the zeal of doing great, being earnest, righteous, honest in every walk of your life since your birth. People born on 15th Aug would be revered as the personification of the sense of independence and patriotism, since they were born on a tumultuous yet most promising time of our country.
These people weren’t the average joe of our nation. They were the rare few. The celebrated ones. We see only them in historical text/media because such are all that were ever worthy of talking about. Similar celebrated people today are the same as then. The average joe is still the same too, if not worse. I’m in no way trying to question the purpose of releasing this video by its curators/creators. I’m trying to challenge the belief that this represents all of the youth of our nation at that time. It doesn’t. Not to me. If the youth today is dazed or disoriented, it always was.

At around 2:15 the guy sings “I should have known better” by The Beatles that was released in 1963.
How come this video claims to be from 1947?

Nothing much has changed between then and now, except for the objects around. Some pessimistic, a few optimists, lazy, some doers and the ignorant. Pretty much the same as the 2015, few things that might have changed is I guess, the number of child marriages might have reduced. But the conditions for agriculture hasn’t changed much. I don’t know why are elders complain about their generation being better, i think i’d probably do the same. Whats funny though is nobody mentioned any freedom fighters( probably because nobody knew what not having freedom meant).
