Students of Mumbai University stand united to withdraw the suspension of Dr. Neeraj Hatekar, Professor of Econometrics at the Department of Economics, Mumbai University. Whistle blower Dr. Hatekar was wrongfully suspended because he brought out the topics of irregularities and mismanagement of the University. The criticism was not taken in a positive way, rather a suspension letter was handed over to Dr. Haterkar. This suspension came after Hatekar held a press conference on December 12 last year exposing the negligence at the university.
By suspending one of the most experienced professor at MU and attempting to silence him, the university have put an question mark on the right of freedom of speech and expression. To show their support, the students of Mumbai University have filed a petition at change.org.The students have laid down five points to join the petition stating that his absence is bound to have a severe impact on the academic development of the students at the university as he plays an indispensable part in the Department as well as in the University. Until now, 200+ supporters have signed the petition and to be successful against the unfair decision of the administration of Mumbai University, they need to reach 500 signatures of the supporters.
