Facebook completed it’s 10 years of existence today and it has definitely been an incredible journey for the 29 Year old Mark Zuckerberg, and infact all of us who have been a part of this mammoth social networking website.
In a status update, Mark shares why he chose to do build Facebook stating :
‘I always thought this was important – giving people the power to share and stay connected, empowering people to build their own communities themselves.
When I reflect on the last 10 years, one question I ask myself is: why were we the ones to build this? We were just students. We had way fewer resources than big companies. If they had focused on this problem, they could have done it.
The only answer I can think of is: we just cared more.’
That is very similar to the idea behind Youth Ki Awaaz. We think it’s important to give the youth the power to make their voices heard and connect with young people from across the globe. We will soon enter our 6th year and the answer to the question that Mark raised ‘why were we the ones to build this?’ remains the same for us: ‘We cared more than anyone else to give the youth a platform to voice themselves, and you have made it possible!’
Cutting right to the chase, let me tell you about how Facebook celebrated it’s 10th anniversary. They have made a personalized video for every one of you. It’s surprising that most people haven’t seen it yet. The video is a very brief compilation of images of your most liked statuses and pictures set to sentimental music.
