The INDIAFRICA Young Visionaries Fellowship has invited applications from young entrepreneurs under 40 years of age over a three week period starting April 28. More details about this can be found online on our website here. The applications will close on May 18th and after evaluation by our institutional partners we will inform 20 applicants each from Africa and India, on May 26th, about them having been shortlisted.
This will be followed by an online jury process, which will combine the assessment of a more detailed submission from each candidate with a Skype interview by a jury member. The 20 winners (10 each from Africa and India) will be announced on June 10th during the Awards Function of the INDIAFRICA Business Venture Competition at Accra, Ghana.
Each winner will be invited to attend a 5 day Boot Camp in Delhi between June 23rd and 27th with a view to exploring possibilities of new collaborative business ventures between Africa and India; and, will also receive a cash grant of USD 2000. The Fellows will also be felicitated at a function on June 23/24, to be attended by all African Heads of Mission in Delhi and top decision makers from government, media, academia and business.
The Fellowship is a great opportunity for successful entrepreneurs from Education, Healthcare, Energy, Food & Nutrition, Creative & Cultural Industries and ICT to share experiences and get on to the drawing board to explore new INDIAFRICA collaborative ventures
The first batch of 12 INDIAFRICA Young Visionaries had attended a similar Boot Camp at Indian School of Business, Hyderabad in March 2013. 2 out of 6 teams have submitted INDIAFRICA collaborative proposals, which are currently being evaluated for up to USD 100,000 of funding by the Govt of India.
The 2013 Fellows represented diverse sectors.. Tarang Doshi from India, Kumbirai Gundani from South Africa and Fasili Boniphace from Tanzania were from the Education sector. Raja Manohar and Hilda Moraa Morara from Kenya were from ICT Mark. John Ssebunnya from Uganda and Ritnika Nayan were running successful business ventures in the Creative sector. Arun Shenoy from India belonged to the Environment sector and Tapan Mukherjee, also from India, to the Food and Agriculture sector. Vinayak Garg from India and Michael Hubbard from South Africa were working in the Healthcare sector and Arnold Sarfo of Ghana represented the Culture sector.
