Recent attacks on people from northeast in a metropolitan like Delhi has exposed the widespread dissent and bias that people from minority communities have to face in their daily lives even in big cities with ‘melting pot’ cultures.
The North-East region has been a long standing victim of this uncalled ostracization with no or negligible media attention whatsoever which is also an input as well as the result of lack of awareness about the region. The people are treated like ‘foreigners’ and ‘tourists’ in their own country apart from being made victims of biases and paranoia which is uncalled for.
Sortedd TV set out to check out the general awareness of people in Delhi about North East of the country they are proud to live in, the results weren’t shocking since most people gave outlandish answers to even simple questions. The implication of such ignorance, hence, is the bias and dissent that it breeds because of lack of awareness. Here is the video:
