Alia Bhatt’s Video Shows Everything That’s Next To Impossible For An Indian Woman In The Real World

By Veda Nadendla:

After the grand success of Queen, Vikas Bahl has taken another step toward the safety and empowerment of women in India. Through his latest short film ‘Going Home’, he has personified what Indian women only dream about every time they set foot outside their home at night; getting home untouched.

It is late at night. A young woman answers her phone and assures her parents that she will be home in ten minutes and continues to drive along a seemingly empty street. Just then, her car breaks down in the middle of street, and immediately a larger car full of men pulls up next to her. We know what happens next, don’t we?

As the video started I prepared for the worst, but what I saw left me smiling. Bahl envisions a utopian state, a perfectly safe street for women to travel on, where women don’t have to be scared of men and when all men don’t naturally become predators in the woman’s eyes. Ladies, has this ever happened with you?
