Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie’s TED talk is powerful for how simple it is. Rather than turn the discussion of feminism into concepts that might be esoteric for the average person, she makes it about relateable stories. And like her excellent novels there’s an arc – the journey of a woman from indifference to enlightenment. It starts with her best friend calling her a feminist, a word Ngozi Adichie didn’t understand and brushed aside. It ends with her proudly declaring herself a feminist; someone who believes in the social, political and economic equality of the sexes. Feminism simplified for the millennial generation.
