It is common knowledge that in the one-party state of the People’s Republic of China, censorship has been an enforced policy. 2 million people are employed across 9 censorship agencies that work day and night to uphold these laws, but just how strict are they?
The programmes that block IP addresses, reset connections and filter web addresses are part of an overarching blockage called the ‘Golden Sheild’ or ‘The Great Firewall of China’. While Facebook and Twitter are blocked, internet searches for phrases like “democracy”, “revolt” and “student strike” too are allegedly blocked.
