[Y]ral: This Artist Is Changing Our Perspective On Body Image Through Her Dolls

Viral by accident, maker of Tree Change Dolls, Sonia Singh, a Tasmanian artist, started with only twelve dolls in 2014. She chose the toys from second hand shops, recycled them and then upcycled them. The dramatic make up and the snazzy clothes of the Barbie dolls have been replaced by a down-to-earth appearance. The new look given by the creator has contributed to a larger debate about hyper-sexual gender images that are being fed to kids through their toys and media and how these dolls are fighting the norm.
