Instead of catching actual criminals to help women feel ‘safe and secure’, hostel guidelines of colleges (and the ever present moral police) today are happier ‘catching’ and keeping women inside and within a time limit. Female students of Jamia Milia Islamia are protesting against the 8 pm hostel deadline that has been put in place, saying it is discriminatory as the deadline for boys is 10 pm. With such restrictions, aren’t women being punished instead?
