Exclusive: Watch DU Party Reps Explain Why You Should Vote For Them #DelhiStudentsVote

By Chitranshu Tewari for YKA:

Student elections, they say, reflect the harsh reality of polity. Far from manifestos and agenda, candidates and their student outfit indulge in nothing but rhetorical jousting. While Lyngdoh committee guidelines for student election clearly set the upper limit of campaign expenditure to five thousand, candidates and their parties spend lakhs in hoardings and pamphlets – quite similar to the unaccountable funds our political parties spend in state elections. DUSU is no exception to this.

With such extravagant campaigning, and the absence of any meaningful dialogue and interaction, candidates easily avoid answering questions and explaining their ‘reforms’, while promising everything under the sun.

On the last day of campaigning for DUSU elections, we had a conversation with the representatives from ABVP, CYSS and NSUI. Watch the video as they answer questions and clarify their party stance on issues like CBCS, rent control, violation of Lyngdoh guidelines, hostel accommodation etc. Here’s to you making an informed choice tomorrow and practicing your right for a better Delhi University.

Representatives interviewed:

Saket Bahuguna – State Secretary, ABVP
Anmol Panwar – State Vice President, CYSS
Bhism Swami – Member, NSUI
