Editor’s note: In May 2014, the newly elected NDA government launched the ‘Namami Ganga’ programme to clean up the country’s longest river. A budget of Rs 20,000 crore, 10 times that of the previous programmes, was allotted to rejuvenate the Ganga. In addition, the government declared 100 percent tax exemption for those who contribute to the project. This animation explains whether the ambitious scheme which has completed one year, has brought about any results.
