Whether through Bollywood, society or tradition, we have been told that a ‘desirable man’ is someone who is aggressive to the point that his stalking a woman to get her attention is considered ‘acceptable’. Being ‘masculine’ then is all about being a certain kind of man.
It’s time to examine such gender stereotypes that pepper the popular imagination and question why such faulty perceptions still persist. Stereotypes box not just women into the role of care-givers but also men as rugged.
