Step Up For Chennai! 10 Ways In Which You Can Help In The Flood Relief

As Tamil Nadu continues to battle floods caused by unrelenting rains, almost 200 people have lost their lives and thousands continue to be stranded. Prime Minister Modi recently announced a Rs. 1000 crore package to aid in flood relief. Apart from that, the whole country has stepped forward to help in any way possible. Many have taken to social media to pass on information while others have set up funds, relief packages, to raise money, provide food, aid in the rescue operations or collect basic commodities.

1. Share this list of helpline numbers, people offering and in need of help, volunteer details, and more. Visit chennairains.org to access a similar form and add in details.

2. Fill this form if you are in Chennai and have a safe space for people to seek temporary shelter.

3. Donate to actor Siddharth’s #ChennaiMicroFund that is feeding thousands of people per day and setting up active volunteer groups for relief and rescue activity.

4. Buy meals for those affected in Chennai through Zomato’s flood relief page. Also, if your restaurant in Chennai or elsewhere wants to help in providing meals for the flood relief, write to crf@zomato.com.

 

5. Paytm is doing phone recharges (worth Rs 30) for anyone in Chennai for free. Use the information on this link to contact them. Also, if you are willing to recharge anyone’s phones in Chennai, use the hashtag #ChennaiRainsHelp on Twitter with your offer so someone in need can get in touch.

7. Tweet to @Uber_Chennai if you want to deliver supplies to any part of the city and Uber will collect it from you.

9. Set up a crowdfunding campaign on Ketto and help those in need. Look at existing crowdfunding campaigns and donate to them if you want to.

10. Goonj has started collecting essential materials to send to Chennai, like bedding, dry ration, utensils, toiletries etc. You can donate good quality items or money here.
