A.B. Bardhan the ex-General Secretary of the Communist Party of India, held his post for four terms. He passed away on 2nd January after prolonged illness.

In his career, he has been an outspoken critic of the right and was also sceptical of the Manmohan Singh-led government.

Bardhan, in this video from the film ‘Ram Ke Naam’, talks about the sanctity of the city of Ayodhya and how the L.K. Advani led chariot is just a political agenda for garnering votes. He iterates that Ayodhya’s holiness is on every street, not just on the land of one mosque, and despite there being larger concerns in the country, like poverty and unemployment, what right-wing elements are bothered about is just the whole debate around a temple and a mosque.
