In what has been criticised to be a sequel of last year, this year’s Oscar nominations for the top 4 categories, include no people of colour. The twitter trend from 2015 #OscarsSoWhite has started doing the rounds again.
I do not understand the context.
Is this trying to illustrate that people of color are being discriminated by purposely not being nominated for oscars, or is it illustrating that people of color should be represented in the nomination regardless of the quality of their performances in their respective movies in order to balance the nomination between white people and color people?
I do not know much about the hashtag #Oscarsowhite, so context would be appreciated.
