#NewsInTweets: Drunk Men Allegedly Harass PhD Scholar In DU

1. Drunk men allegedly harass a woman research scholar outside Arts Faculty campus, DU. While the men had fled by the time police arrived on the scene, a case has been registered under IPC Section 509 (word, gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman).

2. No newspapers in Kashmir for the second day. Separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani seeks the intervention of the UN and some Western and Muslim nations in the Kashmir issue. He said he wrote the letter “on behalf of the oppressed and besieged people to draw the attention of the world community”.

3. 11-year-old Dalit girl allegedly raped and killed, mutilated body found in Ahmednagar district, Maharashtra. Police has said that the incident took place on July 11, 2016. According to reports, the situation in the district is tense.

4. 3 police officers were killed and several others wounded in a shootout in Baton Rouge, Los Angeles with a lone gunman.

5. A woman’s fingers were chopped off in Malda district over an argument over cattle, as her cows were allegedly grazing in her neighbours’ field.

6. A 23-year-old techie was arrested for allegedly hacking Air India’s Frequent Flyer members accounts. It is claimed that he would use that to book tickets sold to several travel agents.

7. Five men gangrape a Dalit woman in Rohtak, Haryana. Shockingly, these were the same five men who had raped her 3 years ago in 2013.

8. 350 sq. km area to be added to Manas National Park, Assam, after a clearance by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The national park currently has an area of 520 sq. km.
