Let’s face it, all of us have faced sexual harassment at some point in our lives, doesn’t matter whether you’re a girl or a boy, doesn’t matter what your age is, all that matters is your genitalia can be touched or ogled at without your consent, to experience sexual pleasure.
It is highly likely that someone in the crowd would have groped your boob, or your ass was squeezed, or someone pressed their hard-on on your ass, and many more instances are experienced by girls and women alike, across the world.
If you haven’t experienced such a thing, you’re really lucky! It’s not only the girls though boys face it too. But when the ratio is brought into perspective, the majority cases happen with women.
I sometimes wonder what pleasure does it bring someone to harass someone sexually just to satisfy their lust. Why don’t people feel guilty for committing such heinous crimes? Why doesn’t guilt creep into their hearts? Why does the survivor have to bear the curse? Why would you scar someone for the rest of your lives? Why can’t you be the better person for once? The only answer I was able to find to these questions were because they like it; in some corner of their hearts they have these hidden desires which makes them commit such assaults.
And that perversion overpowers the guilt, the voice of conscience which screams and shouts – “This could destroy the life of another person,” is ignored.
With the advent of the internet, sexual harassment is increasingly occurring online. According to PEW Research Center (2014) statistics on online harassment, 25% of women and 13% of men between the ages of 18 and 24 have experienced sexual harassment while online.
Leaking somebody’s naked videos or pictures just for your bloody entertainment is absolutely sick. Everyone needs to understand someone’s life is not your toy; you can’t just simply play with it.
A person’s tears might not matter to you, but every single tear drop is like arrows shooting across their family’s heart. India is a country where the one who commits the crime suffers less than the victim.
Let’s for once try to bring about a change in ourselves. Let’s try to alter this society. Let’s try to think. Think once before ogling at some random girl’s breasts. Think before passing derogatory comments. Think before touching someone in their private areas without their consent. Think before you destroy someone’s life just to fulfil your sexual desires.
