Humanity Is My Religion, And Here’s Why It Should Be Yours

By Shalini Shekhar:

If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten that we belong to each other…”

Humanity in general, is perceived as charity. It is spread across the places we dwell, travel or people we met. A man lives for himself. He serves and makes himself secure. But he becomes human only when he serves others, tries to make them comfortable, secure and happy. Statements like ‘To serve humanity is to serve God’ and ‘Service before Self’ bring out the importance of social service.

Well, humanity is not only about building relationships between one another in the society, but it is about building a bond in society with the help of meaningful values and beliefs.

Basically, humankind, right from its birth, always tries hard to survive doing all sorts of work. There is no such divide between the poor and the rich doing the hard work. The rich work to become richer and the poor work hard to earn their daily bread. As Gandhiji said, “Dignity of human nature requires that we must face the storms of life.”

Also, people who always think that they do not have sufficient facilities available despite having everything can never serve humanity because if one has the mindset of being selfish, how can they help someone else? So, it’s important to be happy with what you have, because there might be others who have even lesser.

We as humans should want to help each other. It should be in our nature. There is room for everyone in this world and the world is rich. Because we the people have the power to create happiness, we the people have the power to make this life free and beautiful.

Secondly, I believe that humanity is the best religion. People need to understand this that when they die, neither power nor money will remain with them. So humanity should be the biggest religion for each and everyone.

We need to decide what we are going to give to our next generation, hatred or love – the choice is solely yours.

When peace and harmony become the main cause of every kind of service to the nation and its people, it becomes service to God.

Serve humanity, help others, love everyone, care for each other.
