Dear Parents, Don’t Crush Your Child’s Dreams, Because ‘Log Kya Kahenge’

Fake Dictionary, definition of the word society.

By Harsh Bhatnagar:

“Chaar logon ko pata chal gaya toh kya hoga!”

Do people really care about these ‘chaar log’? Isn’t it us who comprise this small group of ‘chaar log“, that others are so concerned about?

What I am sharing today is something that I have personally experienced.

My girlfriend and I are in a serious relationship for 5 years now. We have had ‘family issues’ from the beginning since she comes from a typical orthodox family. She used to wonder and ask me often how to work this out. But looks like that won’t be needed anymore. A few days, back her parents ‘found’ her groom and it goes without saying that he is from the same caste.

In our country, we all talk about ‘honour killing’, we show our concern towards it. But why does the question of concern only arise when a person is brutally murdered by the relatives or the like?

My girlfriend is just 23-years-old and has many ambitions in life. And I know what kind of torture she is going through for declaring her love for someone who is not from the same caste. She is a very strong woman and she respects her parents and so, still trying to convince her family. Although chances look really bleak, both of us have pledged to never go against our parents. We are hoping to convince them to turn their ‘no’ into ‘yes’.

No offence to anyone but this is exactly what happens in many parts of our country. Dear parents, please let your child choose his or her life partner. Don’t crush their dreams or ambitions just because you are wondering “log kya kahenge”.
