1. Protesters blocked a highway in Karnataka after SC order to release Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu. More than 700 buses taken off the road; schools and colleges in the district of Mandya shut.

2. After twin bombings near Afghan Defense ministry, gunfire heard early morning. 24 people reported killed and more than 90 people injured; media reports one terrorist may have been killed.

3. Pakistan violates ceasefire along J&K, fires mortar shells along LoC. No casualties or damages have been reported yet.

4. Two Muslim mothers wearing veils stopped from entering a school in France by other parents. Later, education officials intervened to allow normal entry for the parents.

5. Mob set fire to the house of a policeman after a pro-freedom rally was stopped. The police used tear gas shells to stop the protesters, injuring 20 people and leading the situation to deteriorate.

6. A UNESCO report states that India will be 50 years late for its global education commitments. It is expected to achieve universal education (primary, lower secondary and upper secondary) by 2085.

7. SC disposed of a PIL asking police officers to examine sedition cases before filing a complaint. The bench noted that criticism of the government did not count as sedition and asked for guidelines set from an earlier ruling to be followed.
