I had an experience that was very similar to what was shown in the movie ‘PINK‘. I empathise with the protagonist, as I, too was a potential victim of someone’s perverse mind.
This happened when I was on holiday in Hawaii. This particular person was staying in the same hotel as me. We found out that we were Indians and began to talk. We had a good conversation, and we instantly connected. We decided to have a few drinks together and went to a nearby bar. A local band was playing some jazz music. Only a few minutes had passed when my friend suggested that we go back to the room and continue drinking there as the music was making it difficult for us to talk. I didn’t think the music was that loud and I was really tired, so I politely rejected but promised to meet up the next day.
The next day, my friend called me up and said, “I’m not feeling well, please come to my room.” I remembered from our previous conversations that my friend had a medical condition similar to asthma. So before I left, I contacted the hotel staff for assistance and asked them to call a doctor. When I got there with the hotel staff, I saw that my friend was completely all right. In fact, acting really weird. I didn’t quite understand why my friend was rude to the hotel staff for no particular reason.
I didn’t think much about it. Even after returning to India we kept in touch. But soon my friend started to get obsessed with me and started calling me late at night. I questioned my friend about this weird behaviour, and my friend confessed to being sexually attracted to me. The conversation we had next was shocking.
My friend: “You know when I called you up and told you I was not well, I expected you to come alone.”
Me: “Why?”
My friend: “If you had come alone, I would’ve jumped on you. I was ready to have sex with you.”
Me: “What if I had said, no?”
My friend: “I was afraid you would say no. That’s why I wanted to get you drunk first.”
I was devastated. This person who I thought was a good friend, with whom I could talk comfortably for hours had actually planned to sexually assault me.
You can now understand how my experience was not very different from what was shown in the movie ‘PINK’, apart from the fact that I am a 27-year-old man and the person who intended to assault me is a 26-year-old woman.
