“Is there good news?”
This question sets off alarm bells for many young women, especially if it’s coming from your mother or eager female relatives. You might have got a great job, or a promotion; you might have got a great SAT score or you might just be having a good day in general, but guess what? That’s not good news. You can be a scientist, a high powered CEO, an amazing teacher, a great writer – but none of that matters unless there’s a ‘bun in the oven’. Know what I mean? You’re ‘expecting’. But expecting what? Oh, good news.
Because the woman’s all about her womb. Because all her personal or professional achievements take a backseat when she’s ‘expecting’. Because nothing matters more to a woman’s life than being a mother.
