What’s Delaying Exams At Maulana Abul Kalam Uni. Of Technology?

Submitted Anonymously:

I have been registered at the Maulana Abul Kalam University of Technology (MAKAUT), previously known as the West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT) for just one year.

I had given my odd semester examinations last December, whose results were declared, after much anticipation, few days before our second-semester examinations commenced. I applied for a review, and it has been over a year that thousands of other students, including me, do not know if we are supposed to prepare for our supplementary examinations or not! There are 195 colleges affiliated to MAKAUT.

The registration date was supposed to begin from November 22. Later, as per a notice released on November 25, it was shifted to December 1 and is to continue till December 14. The forms for our main examinations were released on December 1. The main examination has also been delayed by a month and we will now be giving our  semester examinations until January 31. The examinations were first supposed to take place in the first week of December.

It is a major inconvenience as many of us will also be giving the GATE examinations on February 5, 2017. Amidst the unfathomable confusion of our lives, even the dates for our practical examinations have been continuously cancelled. They are conducted by the college authorities once the registration process is over.

The worst part is that there were several notices released during this duration, increasing the confusion manifold, as there is no way to identify the authenticity of the same.

We cannot plan holidays, apply for training programmes or internships, simply because we are unaware of the duration of the semester break. The preparation for the exams for pursuing higher studies has come to a halt because this is the stipulated semester season. Yet, we don’t know what is coming up next.

The University is robbing us of the peace we deserve by putting a dent on our efforts.
