I brought Pepsi home when I found him hit by a Honda City with a fractured hip bone, an injured spinal cord and a ruptured anal gland. I was angry when the owner of the car refused to help. But my faith in humanity was restored when help started pouring in from friends and strangers in terms of money for medical treatment, prayers, best wishes, and sometimes even food and goodies for him from people I knew.
I always knew I could fall back on my friends, but strangers coming forward to help was a miracle happening. I saw miracles happen in so many ways when Pepsi came to my house. It was a tough thing taking care of a baby. But Pepsi taught me compassion. He taught me that [envoke_twitter_link]if you love something, you love it in totality[/envoke_twitter_link], not just the good things.
And then one day, a friend forwarded a video to me, and I saw yet another miracle. The power of one I called it. It was a video of a 61 year-old-lady, Pratima Devi. I went in search for her after watching the video. I will be very honest – my intention of visiting her was to leave Pepsi under her care. But after meeting her, I knew I could just let her be.

Who Is Pratima Devi And Why Help Her?
This 61-year-old lady despite her limited means takes care of more than 400 stray dogs around her home. Others are scattered in and around PVR Complex up to J Block in Saket, Delhi, a distance of a little over half a kilometre. She feeds them twice a day, once milk in the evening, as well as taking care of all their medical expenditures, including vaccinations and accident treatments.
‘Amma’, as she is known, is strength and compassion personified. She has been taking care of these innocent stray dogs for over 30 years now. She works hard day and night to earn whatever she can in order to take care of these stray dogs. Pratima Devi receives a new puppy almost every week, and with the ever increasing number, so is her expenditure.

The fear of getting bitten by dogs with increasing numbers of stray dogs are common thoughts that have crossed my mind as well.
