Role Of Grandparents In Children’s Life

If I could do only one thing for my children – it would be to give them their grandparents again. My wife Priya and I are blessed with two children – an older son, Iram, and a younger daughter, Siddhi. What I believe is that children learn efficiently more from what they see you ‘do’ – rather from your ‘words’.

Grandparents are wonderful teachers for their grandchildren – grandparents love their grandchildren and only want the best for them. It would be to help children be strong-spirited and make their way forward with kindness and compassion.

I’m not boasting, but my children had grandparents and I’m proud of it due to the fact that perhaps my children are more matured and untangled than other children of their age. I didn’t know this until one day I saw my children while they were teaching our neighbour’s children, Rahul and Vivek (Mr. Gupta’s children) – that we should give greetings to our elders whenever we meet them. I was more happy than shocked. This is not the only thing that I noticed – there were so many of them.

Iram just started devouring chapter books on her own and Siddhi is in playschool only. My children had a special bond with their grandparents, and this can be seen with their positive outcomes and the meaningful ties with the younger generation.

All I know is that it is Mr. Gupta’s fault that he doesn’t stay with his parents here – as they live in a village. Therefore, Rahul and Vivek failed to have any bonding with his grandparents, and somehow it affects them.

I hope that one day when my children will have grown up and have their own children and grandchildren, they will have a wonderful rapport with them and they will share their knowledge of situations and outcomes – good or bad.

So. all I would like to say is that grandparents can be great role models and influences, and they can provide a sense of cultural heritage and family history. Grandparents provide their grandchildren love, have their best interests at heart, and can make them feel safe. Grandparents also encourage a child’s healthy development.
