Anushka Sharma Slams Sexist Media In A Powerful FB Post

The trailer of Anushka Sharma’s upcoming film, “Phillauri”, released earlier this month, presenting an interesting plotline we’ve probably never seen in Bollywood before. Sharma’s production and distribution company, Clean Slate Films, has co-produced the film along with Fox Star Hindi. Clean Slate Films also co-produced the hard-hitting “NH10” along with Phantom Films. Sharma’s debut as a producer was met with high praise during the release of “NH10”, and recently, “Phillauri” co-star Diljit Dosanjh also praised her, stating that she has the “guts to produce unconventional films”.

Despite all of this, recent reports claimed that cricketer Virat Kohli has produced “Phillauri”. Is it so difficult to believe that a female actor in Bollywood is also doing successfully on her own as a film producer? The report says, “Anushka Sharma has been spotted multiple times in the cricket stadium, cheering for her rumoured beau Virat Kohli. Now, for possibly the first time, the cricketer is doing his bit to return the favour. In fact, he’s going a step further.” Such sexist reporting in the media pulls down the achievement of any woman who’s going against the norm of an industry dominated by only men.

Anushka took to social media to rubbish these claims, demanding more accountability from the media, and shutting down all those who think women in films can’t take charge of their own career. Read her full note below:
