What It Is To Be A Dalit In India

Medieval Feudal  System is still prevalent in India , Yet various Government Initiatives has tragically failed to address the Issue .Apart from the General Feudal hierarchy ,there exist the system popularly known as the Caste system which classify section of population as Untouchables .These Untouchables are collectively known as “Dalit’s “.

Crime against Dalit’s Spiked since couple of years .

Here we have a data released by the National Campaign on Dalit Human Rights .

In more than 47% villages- 20% of villages, Dalit’s were not allowed to ride their bicycles, unfurl  umbrellas, wear sandals on public roads, smoke or even stand without head bowed. They were also denied wearing Clean cloths .Usage of Sunglasses and fashionable outfits attire were also not allowed.

25% of the villages, Dalits were paid lower wages than others. They were subjected to verbal and physical abuse.longer working hours, delayed wages are other problems faced. This is not just in ‘feudal’ states like Bihar but also notably in Punjab.

Each week in India

Remember ! this is a country with the fastest growing economy in the world,Just outpaced china. IMF predicts a robust growth rate of 7.6% for India’s economy in 2016 and 2017.Yet though economic growth has improved living standards, India, which has the largest number of poor in the world, is still struggling to lift its 1.2 billion population out of poverty.

We must understand that most of the social issues relating to Human development Statistics are more of Economic .  Income Inequality and its co-relation to Social Issues mostly related to Health. It is essential that we must work more on Income/wealth equalization rather focus too much on High National Income.

We do not see any constructive effort from the Government to solve the Social issues or any effort to spike up the Human Development Index/Prosperity Index.

A radical change in the functioning of the System is vital by re-innovation of the basic Structure. India’s problem is essentially “Structic” .We must propound ideas to Purge it !
