After launching a crackdown against Romeos and illegal abattoirs, the new Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has issued a new order banning government employees from wearing jeans and t-shirts during working hours.
According to a news report by DNA, officials have started acting on these directions. The district administration in Bareilly, in fact, conveyed the order to its officials on Thursday and asked them to wear formal clothes to office.
“No more wearing of jeans and T-shirts. We have directed all government employees to attend office in a formal dress code only,” Surendra Singh, DM Bareilly told the newspaper.
In tune with Yogi Adityanath’s directives, the Bareilly DM has also prohibited consumption of paan-masala, tobacco and smoking in government offices.
“He has also said that consuming pan-masala and tobacco, and smoking cigarettes will be completely banned in Collectorate. The DM also asked to install biometric attendance machines to ensure all the employees come to office on time,” Bareilly ADM S P Singh, told Times of India.
Government offices in Muzaffarnagar and Bijnor district have also issued similar orders.
“[envoke_twitter_link]I will take strict action against the employee who is found chewing tobacco or smoking cigarette[/envoke_twitter_link] in Collectorate premises or any other government office,” Singh said.
District officials at Bijnor were even asked to take an oath to keep their surroundings clean by Bijnor’s chief development officer (CDO) Indramani Tripathi on Thursday.
Officials were warned that a fine of Rs 500 would be slapped on anyone found consuming paan-masala or gutkha in the office premises.
