India is a democratic country, we follow indirect democracy here. We have parliamentary system for making important laws and policies for the citizens of India by debating and discussing, by analyzing various aspects and good or bad effects of that law or policy. At the end when majority in the parliament passes it, than that law or policy gets implemented.
Hence, the question which arises is how to associate youth of India with this policy making process? How to build their interest in this field also? How to ensure them that they also have voice to put forth their opinions? In present scenario, the young generation of India including students, professionals, scholars, researchers, each and everyone is busy in their own life. They merely watch news while having dinner or read newspaper while eating breakfast or having coffee. And most they can do is criticize or appreciate steps taken by government while sitting on sofa in their drawing room or offices.
Hence, there is requirement of a platform where young minds can also speak. A place where parliament should run by the hands of young people, where there is a place of only debates and discussions and there will be no violence.
Therefore, various Youth Parliaments all over India, provide students and professionals a much needed platform discussing various bills and laws through their own perspective.
MY Parliament is also such an initiative towards this vision of giving platform to young minds, where they can discuss and debate various agendas. Unlike original parliament MY Parliament also has monsoon session, winter session and budget session. Young people from various parts of the country participates in these sessions and give recommendations on various agendas which further sent to the government as recommendation from young citizens.
Hence, young minds who want to serve in the field of policy making should come forward and take part in such initiatives. Then only we can achieve what Swami Vivekananda says, “my hope of the future lies in the youths of character, intelligent, renouncing all for the service of others, and obedient – good to themselves and country at large.”
