A Low Cost Carrier has a lower operating cost structure than its competitor airlines. By offering affordable air ticket fares to all, low cost airlines have become a significant part of aviation industry today. We list here top four low cost Indian carriers:

Air India Express

A wholly owned subsidiary of Air India airlines, Air India Express started commencing its operations in April 2005. Headquartered in Kochi–Kerala, the airline covers fifteen international destinations in Middle East and Southeast Asia, and around the same number of domestic destinations, including—Kozhikode, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram, Mangalore, Chennai, Tiruchirappalli, Mumbai, Pune, Amritsar, Lucknow, Jaipur, Varanasi, New Delhi, Kolkata and Chandigarh. As per the market trends, it will be introducing new destinations, both international as well as domestic.

AirAsia India

Headquartered in Chennai–Tamil Nadu, AirAsia India is a joint venture between AirAsia Berhad, Tata Sons and Telestra Tradeplace. It was founded in March 2013 and started commencing its operations in June 2014. The airlines marked Tata’s return to the aviation industry after 60 years. It currently operates to sixteen destinations in India, including—Visakhapatnam, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Delhi, Goa, Srinagar, Ranchi, Bangalore, Kochi, Pune, Imphal, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Bagdogra and Kolkata.

GoAir

Based in Mumbai–Maharashtra, the airlines is owned by Wadia Group. Maintaining its hub in Delhi and Mumbai, the airline started commencing operations in November 2005. It covers 23 domestic destinations today, including—Port Blair, Guwahati, Patna, Chandigarh, Goa, Ahmedabad, Jammu, Leh, Sri Nagar, Ranchi, Bangalore, Kochi, Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune, Bhubaneswar, Delhi, Jaipur, Chennai, Hyderabad, Lucknow, Siliguri and Kolkata.

IndiGo

With its headquarter in Gurgaon–Haryana, IndiGo is the largest low-cost airline in India and second-largest in Asia. The airline started operating in April 2006 and maintains its primary hub at Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. It was started by Rahul Bhatia of InterGlobe Enterprises. IndiGo flies to seven international destinations within India’s extended neighbourhood in Asia, and covers 39 domestic destinations, including—Port Blair, Visakhapatnam, Dibrugarh, Guwahati, Patna, Chandigarh, Raipur, Delhi, Goa, Ahmedabad, Vadodara, Jammu, Srinagar, Ranchi, Bangalore, Mangalore, Kozhikode, and more.
