Internationally acclaimed interfaith activist Saeed Khan Falahi expressed his deep concerns over increasing incidents of hate speech, communal and political clashes, attempts of politicians to divide & polarize people on the grounds of religion, cast and culture in recent assembly elections that are responsible for rising violent religious extremism in Uttar Pradesh and many parts of India. It is neither a good sign for our culture of peaceful coexistence of all religions nor for the development, dignity and prosperity of our country. Many communal clashes including Muzaffar Nagar riot in past years and recently communal clashes in Lakhimpur kheeri and Bulandshahar are the burning examples of violent religious and sectarian extremism and intolerance. The happenings of these communal violence are an example of dereliction of politicians, administrative authorities and law enforcement agencies.
Now the problem is turning into a havoc day by day by the growing vote bank politics in India. The irresponsible politicians want their candidates to win in elections anyhow to come into power. They fuel religious politics through hate speeches in order to divide the voters in the name of religion, cast and culture. The top priority of such selfish politicians is always to please their vote bank, the top priority of opportunist administrative and law enforcement authorities is always to please the ruling party leaders and their goons has made a sick environment that is an obvious threat to the Human Rights, Peace, Harmony and country’s overall development.
This unholy nexus of selfish politicians, opportunist administrative & police officials and goons must be removed. The people can do it by using their power of vote. The people must set an example of living together with the spirit of mutual love, harmony and coexistence to strengthen the social fabric of India, Ganga-Jamuni culture or the culture of unity in diversity that is the identification of our incredible India.
Saeed Khan Falahi call on the government authorities to take effective steps to restore peace in communal violence hit areas including Lakhimpur Kheeri and Bulandshahar and further adopt all precautionary measures to maintain law and order in all parts of Uttar Pradesh including Shahjahanpur keeping in view the upcoming holi festival.
Saeed Khan Falahi who is working for fostering peace and interreligious harmony since 1992 and a winner of King Abdullah II UN World Interfaith Harmony Week Award, 2014 says that God, Ishvar, Allah, will not change our condition, unless and until we change it ourselves what is in our heart, if we want change to develop and prosper, we need to change first — a personal transformation — to enable us to effect societal transformation from bad to good to better to even best, we all must compete in doing good like in a race, we must be the change that we wish to see in our communities. We all must fight to save the humanity, not in the name of religion, he added.
