In Under 3 Mins, Powerful Trailer Slams Trump’s Claim That Climate Change Isn’t Real

In 2006, former US Vice President Al Gore brought climate change to the heart of popular culture through his academy award-winning movie “An Inconvenient Truth“. A decade later, he is back with its sequel – “An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power”. And this time, it seems, he is aiming for Donald Trump and his disastrous climate change policies.

The release of the trailer comes at a crucial time for climate change discussion. In fact, it was released the same day US President Trump signed an executive order curbing the federal government’s enforcement of climate regulations.

It opens with a clip of Trump mocking climate change.“It’s supposed to be 70 degrees today, it’s freezing here. Speaking of global warming, where is – we need some global warming. It’s freezing,” he jokes.

For Gore, this is no laughing matter. With images of wildfires and floods playing over audio clips of Trump promising to cut climate change funding, the movie clearly aims at pointing out the disastrous impact the new US President’s stand on climate change is set to have.

But, the trailer also strikes a more hopeful tone than his previous movie – highlighting the many changes put in place since Truth’s release and how close the world is to a ‘real energy revolution’.

Fight like your world depends on it, the trailer implores, giving that phrase a whole new meaning.

“An Inconvenient Sequel: Truth To Power” releases on July 28.
