Cows Are More Safe Than Womens In India

A recent report by IndiaSpend suggests that an epic 99.38% of Indians stay in areas which have stringent laws of protection for cows. As of March 2017, cow slaughter has been prohibited in 84% of India’s states and union territories (UTs), which account for 99.38% of the country’s population.

There are some interesting facts in their report too.
The oldest laws on cow slaughter ban come from states of Jammu & Kashmir and Manipur where the former rulers enforced them in 1932 and 1936 respectively; i.e. before India’s independence.
80% of the states which amended or added cow protection laws after 1969’s Congress split, were ruled by BJP or Janata Party.
In 13 states, cow slaughter is a non-bailable offence.

Yes, in a country where we desperately need more laws to protect the weak, the innocent and downtrodden, we are hilariously focused on giving more privileges to the nation’s favourite animal who seems to be rather happy in ‘chewing the cud’ than fighting court cases.
