I am a volunteer at kartavya, IIT Dhanbad ,an NGO run by college students. Kartavya is envisioned to uplift the marginalized citizenry living in slum/village.
- Someone once said , “The greatest pleasure lies in giving , not receiving” . Whenever you serve other people, be it the poor guy , or a person in need or whoever in need , you get the greatest pleasure in life . Try doing so, it really feels good . I have personally experienced it. The proudest moment in a person’s life comes when he dies for his country . But everyone is not blessed enough to achieve that much of dignity . Not everyone can join army and get martyred . But, people can achieve pleasures by serving their country in some other ways. There are a lot , but I am mentioning the one that I am doing . I teach children and help them continuously through their good and bad . It gives me one of the greatest pleasures of life . It would not be possible, had KARTAVYA not been there. KARTAVYA is a student run NGO in IIT(ISM) Dhanbad . KARTAVYA provides us with a platform where we can go and teach students, and help them continuously . The children who attend KARTAVYA are mostly from the BPL families who can’t even afford two meals a day, leave the education . The life of those children would be a complete hell, had KARTAVYA not been there . KARTAVYA provides them with education, books, uniform and all the necessities for education . Continuous Skill Developement Classes are scheduled to help students learn various co-curricular activities . What makes me proud here is that I am an active member of KARTAVYA , who is constantly working towards the growth and reach of it . Whenever a child shares a problem with me, I take it as a responsibilty and help in whatever way I can. I don’t think this is something to boast about, but this thing I have done for my country, and I feel proud of it and I want to do it continuously through all my ups and downs , with a smile on my face.
