A film set in Lahore, Bol talks about various problems. A father wanting a son, marital rape, problems faced by LGBTQ+, bigamy, prostitution, gullibility-“Children are gift of God”, bureaucracy and more. A father of six daughters the hakim continues forcing his wife just to satisfy his longing for a male child. The wife’s health is well ignored by him. When the wife does concieve, it turns out that the child is a transgender.
The story deals with the struggle of nine human beings to survive under one roof. A few reasons owing to their hardship are patriarchy, lack of exposure to education to girls. On the other hand the story shows a brighter picture of this family’s neighborhood the family of which consists of just four people.
Murder of transgender child after he has been raped, father indulging with a prostitute to earn money in order to bribe a police officer in exchange for a girl child, struggle of each family member, failed marriage and love.
The story ,I must say is an eye opener and must be viewed with a strong heart.
