What the court said in the verdict

With this decision, about 11 lakh students of 12th class and nine lakhs students of 10th grade who will be present this year will get the benefit. Acting Chief Justice Gita Mittal and Justice Pratibha M. Singh’s Bench said that this policy can not be changed when students have passed the examination for Class XII this year.

The CBSE continues this policy for the students who have submitted the Examination Form this year. When examinations are filled, everyone knows what its rules are. Rules can not be changed when the game has started. The bench said that students should not create a sense of insecurity.

The court is hearing a PIL filed by parents and some lawyers. It has been said in the petition that the CBSE has decided to abolish its moderation policy regarding issuing Grace Marks. This is wrong and will have a special effect on 12th class students who have applied for admission to Delhi University or abroad.

It was argued that some states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh and Chhattisgarh have decided to apply the new policy with the next academic session 2017-18 session. In this way, it should be banned. According to this, CBSE has made a new policy after the 12th examination this year. In which there has been talk of not giving grace marks. This policy will reduce the number of students of class 12th. They will have difficulty in getting admission in college.

On May 22, the court expressed displeasure with the CBSE on terminating the moderation policy. Terminating the policy was called careless and unjustified decision. The court had said why the CBSE did not implement its new policy in the next academic session 2017-18. Now within a few days, 12 class results will be coming.

The examination was conducted between March 9, 2017 to April 29, 2017.

This year, the 10th class examinations started from 9th March, 2017 and till 10th April, the 12th exams were held from March 9, 2017 to 29 April 2017. This year, 8,86,506 students took part in CBSE’s Class X board examination, which was 15.73 percent more than last year.

At the same time, 10,98,981 students took part in the 12th class examination, which was 2.82 per cent more than the previous year. 12th class examinations were organized on class 10 and 10,678 centers across 16,363 centers across the country.

From today morning on the results of XII, various cyber cafes of Patna had made complete arrangements for the results of the test takers. There was considerable enthusiasm in the students, but as soon as they realized that the results were not coming today, they were disappointed.
