This 2 Minute Video On How Periods Work Is The Bio Lesson You Never Got

For the longest time, we all had a lot of questions about ‘that secret something’ (cough, sanitary pads) hidden in a black plastic bag, that chemist-wale-bhaiyya routinely hands to a female relative. If you’re lucky, somebody explains what it’s for, and eventually, Class X biology class provides some clarity. But just like sanitary pads are wrapped in black plastic, much of what the human body goes through during the menstrual cycle is also wrapped in mystery. So much so that even people who menstruate are unaware about it!

But Glamour magazine breaks it all down in this short, sweet, and to-the-point video, and it will take you all of two minutes for someone to understand exactly what changes occur in the body during the average 28-day menstrual cycle. A person’s period usually lasts about three to five days, but then what? There’s other stuff to deal with too. Yes, folks. You feel tired, unmotivated, irritable, and a bunch of other un-fun things. Your hormones (the fun juices otherwise known as estrogen, progesterone and testosterone) are all over the place – sometimes that’s in your favour, and sometimes not. So it’s great that Glamour’s video includes some really helpful tips for dealing with all of this.

We gotta hand it to Glamour for unpacking the information in such a quick, easy to understand way. And add to that a dash of humour at the end!
