A dream of our first President Sri Rajendra Prasad for film to be made in Bhojpuri dialect has touched it’s lowest ebb. When in year 1963 first Bhojpuri movie released, LATA MANGESHKAR JI was a singer of that movie,and movie used to be of family and social matters.Lata Ji has praised the attire of Bhojpuri language.
But everything has changed now. Their is tectonic shift since then,Now nefarious and smutty movies are coming, portraying WOMEN AS COMMODITY and OBJECTIFYING HER. They are using the most wicked and abominable form of language in their songs which is nothing more than promoting pornography publicly . Some of our law prohibits indecent portrayal of women such as :-
1.)Section 294 of the IPC lays down that “whoever, to the annoyance of others
(a) does any obscene act in public place; or
(b) sings, recites or utters any obscene songs, ballad or words, in or near any public place, shall be punished with imprisonment of either description for a term which may extend to three months, or with fine or with both”.
2.) The Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986 (Act No. 60 of 1986)”. The object of the Act was to prevent the depiction of the figure of a woman in a manner which is derogatory or denigrating to a woman or which is likely to corrupt public morality.“Indecent representation of women” has been defined in the Act thus: “It means the depiction in any manner of the figure of a woman, her form or body or any part thereof in such a way as to have the effect of being indecent, or derogatory to, or denigrating to women, or is likely to deprave, corrupt or injure the public morality or morals.
But on the ground level,in case of Bhojpuri movies, there is no arrest till now signifying the ever increasing demand of such an obnoxious movies and songs.If strict IMPLEMENTATION of these and alike law enforced with REGULATIONS would not come in force in near future,it will be futile for moral society.
Serious and worse affected will be teenagers because they are usually induced to such obscenity. They find it easy way to satisfy their rising desire. When the time is for inculcating ethical values in their mind,it is found that their mind is already occupied with lascivious and dirty thinking.
These may increase case of harrassment and molestation. A Day is not far When Bhojpuri as a dialect will be called as Bhojpuri as promoter of nudity and obscenity.
- Strict regulations is necessary as soon as possible.
