Book Review – The Millennials

I recently happened to read a book that detailed about not only the milestones achieved by the millennial generation but also addressed one of the most pressing problems prevailing in the workplace at present – the generation gap! Since this is a pretty perturbing issue, hence I would love to share the contents in a nutshell.
The name of the book is ‘The Millennials’ authored by Shri Subramanium S. Kalapathi. It first speaks about the five generations, namely the Greatest Generation (born after 1928), the Silent Generation (born between 1928 and 1945), the Baby Boom Generation (born between 1946 and 1964), Generation X (born between 1965 and 1980) and finally the present day Millennial Generation (born after 1980). The Millennials are actually the most prominent ones at work in the recent times and this generation is, in fact, the primary one fueling the growth of various kinds of start-ups and fresh ventures that are also aimed at the benefit of the all and sundry as well.
The book outlines the necessity of a harmonious relationship between the dynamic millennial generation along with the other generations who are present in few numbers in the workplaces in order to foster a successful workplace environment altogether. Amidst the radical present age, which is witnessing the dawn of start-ups and social innovation, this book comes as a neat narrative of various examples of the same along with their stories. The book speaks about different start-ups giving a vivid description of the journey of each starting from the inception. It is the millennial generation coming forward to make a change not only in the professional workplace but in the society as well and the book portrays the fact very well. It also outlines the different shades of the millennial generation that make this generation stand apart from the rest. However, it only requires the millennials to work in sync with the predecessors so as to strike the perfect chord of success in a larger meaning of the term of course! I would definitely recommend everyone to flip through the pages of this book as it is indeed a treat for the soul!
